Liturgy of Week 4

An Invitation into this Space:

With his subtle breaths,

small lungs expanding with the Spirit.

Same Spirit imparted to all

to live; in and out of this life

in and out of his nostrils.

Breath of Life,

the Grace given to first humans.

Now, the crowning of a new human.

The Crowning of the King.

His humble cries

awake his tired parents.

Beckoning them to his aid.

Cries that echo throughout Time

An invitation to care

for the least of us.

To love one’s neighbor.

Meditate on the Words of this Scripture:

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

We saw the glory with our own eyes,

the one-of-a-kind glory,

like Father, like Son,

Generous inside and out,

true from start to finish.”

John 1:14 MSG

A Reflection:

“IT MIGHT GET LOUD!

HEAVEN’S COMING DOWN DOWN DOWN

IT MIGHT GET LOUD!!”

- Elevation Worship

THERE WAS A MEGAPHONE IN THE MANGER! The Author of Life had entered the story. The Word came in a form that couldn’t speak a word. So, here is a question?

What was so LOUD about that silent night?

Imagine the cast of characters present on that special night. Mary and Joseph, who God guided through some puzzling personal circumstances.

Shepherds, whose hearts were directed to this intersection of Space and Grace.

Some townspeople and midwives here and there who were curious.

But right there, curled up in his mother’s arms, he lay. That was what was so loud! Everyone was gazing upon Being itself. This act of ultimate presence wasn’t exactly audible, but it did make a ton of noise!

What Mary and Joseph gazed upon in the manger was Being come into being.

A Benediction:

His small hands curl and

his feet kick.

Anticipating the serpent

they have come to crush.

Darkness to be embraced

and fall powerless in these infant palms.

Healing and forgiveness

balled up in this child’s fist.
