Week 1: Intro
Ash Wednesday Reflection
Everyday you die a little bit.
Your skin cells die.
Your hair falls out.
Your blood cells renew.
Everyday you die a little bit.
Situations make you a little less prideful and a little more understanding.
Forgiveness becomes more freeing than being right.
Trouble informs you of more opportunities for patience and empathy.
Everyday you die a little bit.
You have one less day to love as you want.
You have one less hour to be as you want.
You have one less second to make a difference.
We are always dying. We are always being made new.
Intro to the Lenten Season
What are the spaces we enter into when we are tempted? During the Lenten season, we remember that Jesus entered into the desert to be tempted.
The desert, as a metaphor, represents the spaces of lack we enter into when we are tempted. Psychologists say we are most tempted to act destructively when we are
tired,
lonely,
angry,
hungry,
or scared.
This Lent, I want to explore each of those states of mind and uncover tools for overcoming those desert moments.
